  • good job, mr. smith!

have you watched this movie: Shoot ‘Em Up? i loved this movie! It
was so cool and full of
simple gun fighting action! it was really all
about shooting from the first 30 seconds to
    the last second.

in the movie there’s a lovely scene where
smith(clive owen) smashes a mercedes with his stolen
bmw just because the mercedes driver never uses his blinker (direction or signal light). that scene alleviated all my stress from the crazy drivers who never use blinkers!!

yes, i hate people that don’t use their blinkers when
they change lanes. I HATE THEM!! i don’t have any problem with road rage but
    those non-blinker-using-folks always drive
me crazy. (well, i get frustrated by poor
    traffic signs too)

there are some reasons i hate these people.

    first,
it’s so DANGEROUS. people die of car accidents, right? all of you have
some crazy experience with this, don’t you?

    second,
their LAZINESS! you need just one
finger to move one inch, not some
    thing so
    hard to do.

    third,
their THOUGHTLESSNESS! how selfish and simply bad! we all know that we
share the roads, these people don’t care about public
    safety.

when i see a crazy car cut me off without using
    their
    signal i go nuts, not
because they’re cutting me off but because it’s an
    unexpecte
d movement that freaks me out and
puts me and my passengers in danger. am i too sensitive? i served as a armed car driver early during my military service so
I’ve been trained to drive with some common sense.
but i don’t think that commom sense is significantly different from what we learn to get a regular driver’s license.

if you feel sympathy with my frustration, please, tell your friends/family/non-blinker-using-folks to use their
blinker when you see they don’t. your
small action can make a positive change on the road and in the world where we
    are living together.

  • I agree. People should drive safer and have some sort of common curtesy so as not to accidently maim their fellow drivers. When I do get some sort of licence, I will try to always be safe. Not only for myself, but others.

(Gosh, that sounds like a Miss America speech, doesn’t it? Needs more Iraq and “such as”.)

  •  i watched that over the weekend. :)

  • and that’s why you gotta shoot ‘em up before they cause more danger to society!

  • It’s not as good as Hard Boiled, but then what is?

I think Children Of Men was a far better movie for Clive Owen, personally.

  • Yeah I’m more annoyed-angry when a car cuts me off
if my baby nephews are in the car with me.

  • when I used to drive back in Saskatchewan Canada, Id do one of two things to those people on the highway, haha.

    1) speed up and drive alongside them, flip them the bird!

    2) Ignore it!!!

People are just so lazy, but you’re right!! Thats how accidents happen, people failing to simply flick one switch when they’re changing lanes! its too bad.

  • I hate it when people drive slow. Its like, do you freakin’ walk slow too?!

  • Hear hear. You and I have something in common my friend.

An even bigger pet peeve of mine is when people tailgate behind my rear. It really pisses me off to no end. Anyone whose a practitioner of this offensive measure should be shot. Its as if they’re trying to coerce me into drive faster, which would potentially get me a speeding ticket. Just to be an asshole, I would normally go 10 under the speed limit just to spite them. I think one of these days, I’m going to take it upon myself to have a custom bumper sticker that reads, “you tailgate and I slow down, got it?

  • Never go to China, you won’t get from one end of the block to the next… let alone worrying about blinkers. We actually have it pretty good here.

  • Yes, totally with ya.  I always use my blinker, and it reallllly bugs me when other people don’t.  Like, I’m waiting at a stop sign because I see a car coming, and suddenly they just turn.  If they had had their blinker on, I could have gone long ago, knowing that they wouldn’t be crossing my path.

You know what else bugs me?  When someone else’s blinker blinks at a different speed from mine. ;)

  • I hate drivers who don’t use their blinkers either… angers me… lol.

  • Hello Ethan,
I like your site that you worked hard to make simple yet elegant. The music is a nice touch. I see that you have a wide variety of observations here!
I like to write articles about God and religion on my site to help people to really get to know God, especially in these troubled times.14 When the good news about the kingdom has been preached all over the world and told to all nations, the end will come. (Matthew 24:14) (CEV) I hope you get a chance to look at them.

  • I love your blog! Check out mine? Don’t forget to comment! Come see all my thoughts, hopes, dreams, and opinions! Thanks!

  • How about morons who leave their blinkers on for miles and miles? You can tell that they’re just looking ahead and zoning out, because if they just glanced for a moment at their instrument panel, they would realize that they have their turn signal on.

  • So the solution…shoot people who don’t use blinkers? Or have Clive Owen shoot them?

  • “your small action can make a positive change on the road and in the world where we are living together.  ”

    hahaha lol

  • hahaha, you’re a featured xanga weblog. =)

  • nothing like BMW films

  • hey yea i do feel sympathy for you dude, i HATE non-blinker using ppl.

BUUUT…i’m really commenting to thank you for sharing my enthusiasm for this movie…i LOVED it, excessive carrot violence and all.  everyone i’ve talked to though gets hung up on the plot line, which was admittedly out there.  anyway, thanks dude.

  • LOL! how funny
just the other night, i was in the car with a friend
and he got pulled over for changing lanes without using a signal
oh, and he was kinda speeding
but more so for the lane changing

  • Yeah…SERIOUSLY. this is one of my biggest pet peeves.

ALLL…I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE of you people who replied here better not be driving around with your high beams on while religiously using your turn signals…

high beams drive me crazy. Don’t even think about claiming ignorance. learn the damn basic functions of your cars.

hahah…I’m not really this mean and peeved all the time. I’m actually quite nice. and funny. and I agree wholeheartedly with this post.

  • Nvr watched it before … will watch afterwards for so many good comments thr … lol

  • gotta love the movies that don’t require any thinking :)

    http://oneria.ning.com/

  • hahaha i totally agree with you.
and it also makes me mad when they cut really really close in front of you when traffic is slowing down. it makes me scared and worried :(

AND! do you ever get that fear when your’re driving in a parking lot and there’s a biker riding towards you? i always feel like they’re going to swerve somehow and i’ll end up hitting them :(

  • Yes, this is totally annoying.  What really bothers me is people who just wander out into the street without looking and expect people to stop for them.  They drive me nuts.  I’m thinking, at least turn your head and look at the on coming traffic!!!

  • ooh~  i want to watch this.
agreed~  i can’t even stand being in the car with somebody who doesn’t use their blinkers.

  • oh man, that annoys me so much. I particularly hate it when they honk at you because you went straight at a 4-way stop sign, which interfered with their left turn, even though they didn’t have their signal on, which implied there should’ve been no problem with my starting through the intersection…
I often say “I hope you crash” when I see someone not using their signal. But then, I don’t really want them to die, so I say “I hope you crash and not get hurt”, just so they can be taught a lesson.

  • wow , that’s like my number one pet peeve haha, now i’ve got to see this movie.

  • Yes!!  I completely sympathize with you – I haaaate it when people don’t signal.  Dangerous, that is.
    Gotta love Clive Owen. :)

  • Driving is very much like a game in which it is the intention of every other driver on the road, pedestrians also, to cause you to wreck. If you can manage to get home safely, you win. btw … if you think people do crazy and unexpected thigs when you’re driving your car, you should see the things they do when you come rolling up behind them in a fire engine with lights and sirens going. Wow!

  • Someone else feel the same way I do. I curses those people that don’t use blinker when they change lane or just simply in front of you when they stop at redlights and suddenly decide to go a completely different direction and cuts off in front of you by speeding up way before the light go green. It is DANGERIOUS!

  • it seems like an insignificant thing to do, but oh so important. =D

  • BLINKERS!!!!! they make a really good beat for music when you’re really really bored in a car and your friend next to you starts beatboxing…… but that’s just me…. and probably ONLY ME.

  • Totally! I don’t understand why more people didn’t like this movie. It was like a big, crazy, cartoon gunfight. Hell, just the fact that the main character uses carrots as weapons I thought was hilarious.

And I agree on your blinker comment, too. That kind of laziness and inconsideration drives me up a wall. Although if you want to see another good scene like that, go to youtube and type in like Lynch Loggia and Lost: it’ll bring up the only good part of David Lynch’s “Lost Highway” where Robert Loggia runs a tailgater off the road, and explains (at gunpoint!) why tailgating sucks.  :)

  • Haha believe me i know what you mean. I have to see that movie now it sounds really good.

  • that was a cool movie… saw it on the plane going to mexico city.

  • I haven’t been driving for long and communicated a similar thought of anger to someone riding in the car with me and they told me after a while, one forgets to use the blinker for turns, particularly the instinctive slight turning of the wheel when changing lanes. I knew from that second on I would be trying my best to not forget to be aware of what’s going on at all time when I’m driving and be a more responsible driver in that sense!

  • the blinkers are there for some reasons, right? USE THEM

  • Apparently this is in the Kentucky Driver’s Handbook, because while I was there, only out of state drivers used turn signals. The rest had full faith in my psychic abilities.

  • There are other problems with blinkers that were failed to be mentioned…

I get frustrated when people leave them on, it’s just as bad as not using the thing at all.  Can you seriously tell me that they don’t hear that annoying little tink, tink, tink, tink… come on folks.  Maybe if they turned their stereo down once in a blue moon so that they could re-gain some of their lost hearing (but that’s another story)! :)

    Also~

It really irks me when people think they are some sort of right-of-way.  Just because you move your finger that aforementioned inch does not give you the right to carelessly careen into my lane.  I swear they don’t even check to see if the other lane is occupied, they just turn on the blinker and blindly swerve… jeez.  Okay, i’m done now.  Time for happy thoughts.

Good piece.  It is a very useful information for some undereducated drivers…or just lazy ones. ;)

    xXx,

    You’ve been kissed by Innocence.

  • in vegas, you turn on the blinker & the next thing you know … the car on the other lane is speeding up so the blinker wouldn’t be put to good use ….

  • That is a big pet peeve of mine, I really think that’s the one thing that really bothers me when driving. Oh, and when my parents don’t do it. I say something, haha.

  • The worst movie I have ever seen (well second worst..the worst being Natural Born Killers). I have no problem with guns and blood and violence.
I normally love blood and gore like Kill Bill, Eastern Promises, I’ll even watch Grindhouse! but this movie just plain sucks with bad acting (I am now forever sworn off  Paul Giamatti..Please !! I know he has to act over the top but you could still do that without being soooo annoying). Did Clive not read the script?

  • i still want to see this movie! there are so many mixed reviews for this movie, some like it and some don’t! but im going to have to check it out for myself! :) and i agree on you with the damn blinker thing! someone did that to me this morning!!! ughhhh!

  • People who use their turn signals WRONG piss me off too! I got into an accident due to that, but because I didn’t “yield” when I thought they were turning, it was my fault! (Of course, they were driving an SUV, so my car was mutilated while theirs was only touched, but, you know how THAT goes.)
I got onto my boyfriend really bad because he never used his turn signal, and now, I’m proud to say, he does. ^_^

  • I agree. I hate when people don’t use their turn signal. Even in NY, where I rarely drive, it still bugs me because I’ll be waiting to cross the street and a car will turn without their signal and I’m like “gah! I could’ve crossed! You just wasted precious moments of my life that I will never get back all because you were to lazy to move your finger a few inches!”

  • That movie gave me such a boner.

Well, it would have if I had a penis.

  • Oh man, I couldn’t agree more!!!  PEOPLE WHO DON’T SIGNAL DESERVE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT!!!!!!!

I hate it when people cut me off, or change lanes without warning.  Ughh!!!!!

  • Hey everyone!! This is Kelly Taylor! I want to let everyone know that I have opened my new site, CRiMiNAL_CREATiONS, and I need your support!! Please stop by and help me get to my goals of 10 comments and 10 subscribers!! I promise you will not be disappointed!

    Pea’s and love.

    Kelly

p.s. Sorry if you hate ad’s, but how else are you going to stay up on the happenings of the xanga world??

  • I agree completely with the turn-signal thing. I hate it when people use it too late, also. Just letting it blink once or twice does not count!

  •   I totally agree with you.   so annoying uggh!!  I did  love Shoot Em’ up it was like an action comedy to me. Good stuff!

  • how sad is it that people get their satisfaction from people shooting eachother?

  • My boyfriend and I just watched it last week and we loved it as well :)

  • Yea this is horrid. I hate inconsiderate drivers.

  • I also have a car peeve about people not using their blinkers!! Freaking irritating and I would feel better even if its a one second warning instead of an all-of-a-sudden slid into your lane.

Another car peeve would be when someone it driving too close to the other line and actually crosses it (but it doesn’t happen that often).

I really think I should watch this movie~~

  • My hubby is a semi driver all over, the eastern states. He has seen just about all kinds of driving. He says the slow ones are actually the most dangerous. A few years ago a lady made the choice to end her life, using my husbands truck as the last thing she saw. Nightmares!!!! So you are right …Be aware out there.

  • Next time someone does something you don’t like, just shake your fist in their general direction and yell “YAAAH TRICK YAAAAH!”

  • I feel the same way about “non-blinkers”!

    Daniel (doubledb)

  • Luke 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

    Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Turn away from your sins (lying, sex, hatred, lust et. al) and turn to Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ was crucified, died and resurrected from the dead!  He is the ONLY way, truth and life!

If you die in your sin, you will go to hell!  Today is the day of salvation!  Accept Jesus Christ for He is your only hope!

  • Couldn’t have been better said.

  • Haha, I totallly agree with you. I barely started driving this Summer, and I get so frustrated when people are inconsiderate of others on the road. Sometimes, I think that I might get a heart attack or something while driving

  • I agree!  There are a lot of things that bother me about ppl’s driving habits.  I am terrified of ppl that inch out from the right side of the road like they will pull out in front of me now.  Bc I’ve had a few ppl do it to me, & I had one guy jump out from the side & hit me.

The most interesting story I have come acrossed.  Was a Chinese friend of my Aunt.  He teaches street fighting classes etc.  Someone got mad it him on the road, had road rage, followed him to the place he stopped.  As he went inside this man got out of his car & was keying his car.  The Chinese man came out & defended himself with his street fighting.  Tackled the man, & there was a cop there who witnessed the whole thing.  And was able to take care of the man that keyed his car

  • omg, thank you for this.  i HATE people who don’t signal when changing lanes or making turns.  especially if them doing so causes me to have to brake or slow down.  signal dammit!!

  • I, too, enjoyed that film. I mean, any movie where TWO PEOPLE DIE FROM CARROT ATTACKS… … … must be fairly legit.

  • The movie also encouraged me to eat carrots.  I’ve been eating carrots almost every week ever since I saw that movie.

  • just watched this on DVD. MAN this is hilarious. so larger than life and soooo unbelievable!!! the sex scene was hilarious! did u know that Clive Owen actually wrote the script for that scene?? :) )

  • I teach people to drive and I’ve seen that and much worse many times.  If you want to know why drivers are so bad go to the grocery store on the busiest days of the week and watch people interact.  Obviously it isn’t the exact same thing but people have a very limited sense of the existence of other people when they are doing something.
I saw so many people just obliviously ramming their carts around or stopping and blocking everyone else from moving even though all they had to do was move over a little bit to keep traffic flowing.
Driving is obviously more dangerous but that is why people think it through just a little bit more.

  • Hm…are you SURE you don’t  have road rage?

  • I couldn’t agree more with you …that movie was graphic but entertaining Sometimes i really wish I could do exactly what he did

  • I cannot wait to see this movie!

  • Don’t ever move to Iowa . . .  NO ONE uses their blinkers there (and stops signs seem to be pretty much optional).  Haven’ t seen the movie yet, but I might have to watch it just for that scene!

  • i have seen that movie. it was okay. the gun fighting and whatnot was good. the sex scene was stupid and there were too many one liners in that movie. i do love clive owens though. :)

    xo

  • That movie was truly craptastic.

  • i change lanes without the blinker quite a lot…

for me, its kind of like having to pee standing up, when sitting down is “far more comfortable.”  -michael scott.

anyway, ill try to be a little more courteous the next time im about to change lanes without the blinker…

  • +1 on the blinkerless users. You buy a car and it has signals so use them. Its like buying a microwave and only using the “cook a bit more” or “minute plus” button while ignoring the fact that you have number to use to specific the time and power. But most of all safety is 1st here for me. Who cares if you dont signal? Everyone who sees your car move! Especially the guy you hit! USE YOUR SIGNALS PLEASE.

Excellent post… I never mustered up enough to rant about this one, but I’m glad someone did.

  • I have yet to watch the movie, but I know what you mean about the blinker.  I would warn ya to never drive in New Jersey.  We have the world’s worst drivers and are full of people who don’t understand how to use a blinker, or stop at stop signs, or notice red light :)

  • I just started driving and I already hate that.  -__-

  • I know, right? Blinkers were made for an important reason. Nobody knows how to fucking drive anymore. . .me included. lol.

  • OMG, we think alike. I hate those people too. And when they cut in front of me, I get annoyed and angry for the same reason you do. Plus, I’m bad at reading signs (driving close to the white lines, go slightly over the lines, indicating they want to cut), so it freaks me out even more when people cut me without using their blinkers. If they ever, ever, hit me because they were trying to cut me without using their blinkers and I didn’t know and didn’t space out for them, I’m so gonna scream at them and slap them.

I tried telling my dad to use his blinker, but all I got was scolding, and this, ‘Please, those are for the beginners and amateurs; we experienced drivers know what we are doing.’ I seethed so badly that I was speechless.

  • Okay, I’m learning to drive, and I understand what you mean, but there are some scenarios where they aren’t in the wrong.

Sometimes people who usually use their blinkers just zone out and forget. They don’t mean to do it, there’s just so much to take in when you’re driving. They are busy concentrating on something else out there, and they have a sensory-overload moment and what they’re doing escapes them. If it hasn’t yet happened to you, it will.

Sometimes, you try to hit the blinker switch, and it doesn’t want to go down. Sometimes you notice, sometimes you don’t. Or sometimes you hit it and in manuevering the car, it switches off.

Sometimes the person in the passenger seat is supposed to be giving directions, and all of a sudden shouts “turn here!” or “change into the other lane!” and there’s no time for the driver to think.

So yeas, while it’s annoying, we have to give people a little leeway. Everyone makes mistakes and you wouldn’t want anyone ramming your car because he didn’t understand the complete events of the situation.

  • Isn’t that the truth! Excellent post!

  • I have not seen that movie.  I think I will!

  • Oh, congrats on being featured!

  • I forgot to use my blinker whilst changing lanes, and I got honked at and nearly got hit. But, I am student driver and I try to remember now. I’m sorry.

  • *A student driver. And a fucktard too, apparently.

  • It’s a story of mine. I wear the links of london in my whole life. No one knows why I love so much the ring. I also don’t know why. We even don’t know what his name is and how old he is and where he come and went. It really likes a ridiculous story. But I have a proof that is the links of london jewellery ring. It’s neither a dream nor a girl’s imagination.
I don’t know if you can see this article, if you can remember the period happiness, I hope you can have a happy life.
